Safe meaning no board pair, no flush.
Rest of the hand depends on whether the turn is played HU or three way. If it is three way, I'd simply play the odds on the turn. If it's HU you get to play poker.

I think I like calling here, too, mainly in order to see what BlueOcean does, but I'm not really sure.

I'm also not sure how to deal with the flush possibility either in a 3-way pot. It actually seems to me like only one of the possible holdings for your opponent.

I have real trouble playing this kind of situation, anyway. Seems to me like he could have just an overpair, could have a wrap similar to yours, but most likely including at least the 9, could have a wrap with flush draw (certainly not good) or overpair with flush draw, could also have 99.

I tend to think that the flat call also gives you more flexibility in terms of using your positional advantage, although that can be a bit dubious against a tricky opponent. Anyhow, I don't see how flat calling actually should exclude something like 97 or even 99 from your own possible holdings.

What I'm really wondering about is bluffing the turn here if it's checked to you after the board pairs or a flush card hits, but I guess this really depends enormously on your table image. If your image is right, I think it's probably worth taking a shot at it in either case--maybe half-pot on a paired board and full pot if the flush card hits (assuming a check). I think you might even raise the turn if it's an offsuit 4--or obviously, if you make your hand.

Is this too aggressive?

Anyhow, I think the raise leaves no room for additional play here, hence doesn't allow optimal use of your positional advantage vs. the bettor.
