i do think this is interesting.
recently both Xas and Mute have made cases for playing a wide range of hands -- not so much for the value of the hands themselves, but for the fact that they feel confident that they can outplay their opponents after the flop. this basically gives Hero their four cards AND almost everything that doesn't hit villain. i won't even mention metagame value when you show down one of these janky hands to take down a pot.
of course, there's a lot more too it than that, but it's an interesting idea. i think one key point is that villains need to at least be trying to win (as opposed the the low limit rec player who just wants to show down -- like the kitchen table poker games of your childhood), and villains need to be willing to fold (somewhat related to the previous point).
