Due to his mastery of playing J4o, I think it's only fair that the hand be named after our beloved botanist. Normally, I like to have a hand that has at least SOMETHING going for it if I'm defending my blind against a steal-raise, but this guy was open-raising pretty much anything in LP, so I decided to give it a go. The disturbing thing is that had I not improved on the turn, I actually would've wound up folding the best hand!

One more note: I really don't like how I played this hand on the turn. My initial thought was that this guy was gonna keep on betting no matter what until I showed strength, but that if he had nothing, he'd fold to a turn check-raise...so I flat-called and was going to check-raise the river. But then, as I often do, I chickened out on the river and was afraid he'd check behind, so I wound up leading out. So, I did fuck it up a bit, but you have to agree that his river raise is a thing of beauty. :)

Yet another nihan.

Sorry though, J4o is far too much of a powerhouse to be named after our rocky friend.

The first post he put up all proud about his blind defense consisted i beleive of some guy raising out of the SB with TT, and piers calling with 92o from the BB and flopping two nines. This was of course followed by a lengthy treatise about the +EV'ness of 92o from any and all positions.

Hence, 92o will always be 'the piers'. And if piers sees this post, im shure hes going to correct me about the other guys holding and remind me that he actually had 27o and was domiated the whole time.

Nah, the 92o one was pretty recent. The J4o hand, I believe...he flopped bottom pair 4's against a guy's pockets sevens, check-raised him and "bet it down" only to mize out and catch a jack on the river. Actually, the more I think about it, it was capped preflop and on the flop...and since it was on Crypto, it actually went a full 33 bets on the turn, putting our hero all-in with 5 outs.

But I could be mistaken on some of the details.

EDIT : My mistake, in the hand I described piers actually held the mighty T4o, which is obviously a stronger hand since it is only a 5-gapper.

Heh heh, very nice...I defend with a lotta crap, but usually give up unless I hit something. By "hit something" of course, I mean gutshot or better. 8-) It's not very often that I play back with nothing, but I do occasionally. Of course, I'm usually to much of a wuss to follow all the way through, but hell...NIHAN!

LoL. Yeah i noticed that. Im not shure what the point of seeing every flop is though? Is there a reason for that, or is it just another gratuitously strange and gin inspired Tightwad idea like the one with the plunger, the toothpaste, and the ping-pong ball?

Well dude, if a couple world-class pros like you and me sat at a 1/2 table WITHOUT handicapping ourselves with the "see-every-flop" thing, the match would never end. Because we wouldn't bust. Because we're world-class pros. This challenge isn't really a test of true poker skill, it's actually more of a mizor-meter. Who can last longer while playing such beauties like 93o and Q3o in capped pots? Come on, brotha, unleash the beast within and take me up on this!

Well, i might do that later on tonight. I got way too much crap to do today- however, i can assure you I have had many headsup limit mize-fests in my time, from 2-4 to 100-200 and trust me, its easy to bust there (all to easy sometimes)

In any case, ill be on later on, not like your degenerate azz will be in bed. Then, vee shall see! How bout something a LITTLE more motivating than 1/2, like 2/4 at least

I have played limit HU where there are antes, and where the first to act is always in for a raise, so i dunno. We can figure something out. Wonder if we could get a pool together? Yeah, thisll be kindof like then Johnny Moss and Nick the Greek played HU for months on end and pushed milllions back and forth, except this will be NOT live, itll be like 20 bucks, it'll only happen once, and it'll be between guys that arent cool enough to have nicknames like 'The greek'. Other than that, it'll be the same shit though.

Ahhhh, I think I see the problem. You thought i meant a heads-up match. No, no, no. Gotta be a full ring table!

And by the way...believe me, I know how easy it is to bust playing heads-up. Over, and over, and over again. :(

Now that you mention it, though, I'd be more than willing to play you in some heads-up matches...but not at this point. I'd like to have a bit more of a bankroll first. NOT because I'm afraid of losing, but...ummmm...just 'cause, heh heh.
