Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (10 handed)

Preflop: Hero is SB with [5d], [6d].
1 fold, UTG+1 calls, UTG+2 calls, MP1 calls, MP2 calls, MP3 calls, 2 folds, Hero completes, BB checks.

Flop: (7 SB) [Ac], [5h], [2c] (7 players)
Hero checks, BB checks, UTG+1 checks, UTG+2 checks, MP1 bets, MP2 calls, MP3 folds, Hero raises, BB folds, UTG+1 folds, UTG+2 folds, MP1 calls, MP2 folds.

Turn: (6 BB) [9s] (2 players)
Hero bets...

Just started at the table, so no reads on the players.

Everyone checked to someone in relatively late position and he bet. The pot was fairly large, so I was given 9:1 on my call, which is more than the 8:1 I needed. So why not call?

There were many people to act after me, the pot was large, the bettor could have crap, and I can represent a much stronger hand. All of those together tell me I should be raising and making people face two-bets cold.

When it became heads-up on the turn, I kept up with the aggression. If he raised me here or I didn't improve on the river, I'd fold.

Anyone think I should have played this differently?

i'm impressed by how many people folded the flop. I don't mind this play at all but i'm done after the turn bet.

Meh- i htink id probably just peel one to catch trips or bookenders on the turn, and not get aggressive in this pot. Too big a field to have any really decent expectation that your hand is good and/or that your not gonna get called. Id probly save my $ in this one, save the aggression for a pot that doesnt have a bunch of players in it. With no reads, a bettor and a caller and a bunch of people to act behind you, i dont think id put this raise in here. And beleive me, I love raising, but i dont think id have done it here- like i said, you got ace-flop multiway, a bettor from EP, a caller, and like a million people behind you. I just dont think that raise is +EV in the long run...when everyone folds but the bettor and the caller, i dont mind the turn bet TOO much, since everyone folded behind, miraculously, you may have the best hand! Still dont htink id pull this one though.

The better wasn't in EP. Nearly everyone checked, then he threw in a bet. That doesn't say much.

I wasn't sure if the play was +EV or not either.

My raise would knock out hands like 77, a 5 with a better kicker, and some gutshot draws maybe, but ace-crap is very likely to stay in at these loose tables.

But! When MP initially bet, he had one person calling. One of them likely has AX of some sort. I think I might have been paying too much with my draw...

Whoops! Duh, i see where the bet came from. Hmm. Yeah i dunno. Its marginal, but after seeing where the bet came from its not at all like i thought. Still not sure if id do it or not, as in a pot that is like seven ways or whatever that monstrosity was, ill tend to give someone credit for an A- i dunno...what happened in that one?

Mecos, you're a pretty good poker player but I think your true talent is in misreading hand histories
