Anyway, on to this topic. And I want replys, $#^@%^@#%^ it!!
This is going to be one of the top 5 most important articles you will ever read, so
PAY ATTENTION
(Ed. note: this play is from a book called "gauranteed income for life" I suppose I should have mentioned this originally, just an oversight. Everyone knows, that I always mention any terms, quotes or such that are NOT ATE originals. Couldn't remember the name of the book, at the time. Sorry for the oversight)
Anyway, remember that TRUE poker, involves a hellofa lot more, than "throw this away, play this" bet that, check this.
It involves getting into the heads of your opponents, and trying to make them play differently, (in a manner that's profitable to you) than they would have otherwise.
Anyone not willing to incorportate these type of techniques, will be AT BEST, a minor winner in the game.
Anyway, this is NOT something that you'll likely EVER have a chance to do, but it will teach you the types of things you should be looking for, to master this game.
Anyway, herrrrrrre we GO!!!
Scene: Private home game, in the sixties. Remember, money was worth about 7-8 times what it is today.
Anyway, there is a floating game, and this week it will be played at a home where the host has exactly ZERO to eat.
One of the players, has a tendency to get REAL hungry, and he's already a bad player.
Our hero, stops by a deli, and buys a HUGE submarine sandwich (yeah, you youngsters, that's what we used to call them, they were SUBMARINE, not SUB)
Anyway, he keeps the sandwhich in a bag, by his feet. Later, the choice of game, is seven stud high low, with NO QUALIFER for low. (Ed note: this game, made Sklansky rich, and is featured in SUPERSYSTEM, but sadly, does not exist anymore)
So, with four low spades in the first four cards (remember, one doenst need to make an eight low, to qualifiy for low, so this is MUCH more powerful, than in 8 or better)
Our Hero, puts the sandwhich in the pot, and announces (sorry, I only have one, so whoever wins this pot, gets the sandwhich)
The game is pot limit, and he proceeds to make a SWEEPING hand, and makes several hundred dollars MORE, from the HUNGRY guy, who stayed in against his better judgement, hoping to get the sandwhich and relieve his hunger.
Remember folks, this was before the age of food delivery, so it was not so eazy to get something to eat, without leaveing the game.
Ok, that's the story.
This is WAR, and anything that is not cheating is FAIR GAME. whatever you can do, to make your opponents to make mistakes, is something you should be looking for.
If you are not prepared to be this diabolical, then perhpas poker is not for you.Statistics: Posted by AdamtheExpert — Mon Dec 20, 2004 10:57 am
