The important aspects of the context are the following:
1) I have a very tight image (which I like and intend to promote). I think various players have various takes on this, though, and there are often some faces somewhat unfamiliar to me. Sometimes I find out that they do already have the tight read on me (which doesn't take long anyway, since I'm playing like 20% of hands and everybody else something like 50%-80%), but some are very gambly and like to call anyway if they have even a vague chance at the pot.
2) We're usually talking about at least 6-way flops.
Anyhow, on the totally dry K82r board, I'm just really not sure how they'd view it if I were to flat call. 88 or 22 (both of which are very possible and both of which would presumably bet here) might put me on K8 or K2 or even just some strong K with maybe 2 flush draws and outs to top 2.
I'd be VERY interested in your opinion here in any case. Say in a 7-way pot of $70, with this type of players and someone betting pot at you, what hands would you raise or call with (also given that raise is all-in and given a very nut-peddly table image)?
I'm really not completely sure about it. I think there definitely is an argument for calling with maybe 88 or KK (22 I probably don't have and consider a fairly easy laydown anyway) and possibly also with K8 and two runner-runner flush draws. Also, K8 is often also going to mean for me that certain big cards can significantly improve my hand on the turn--like KQT8 starts to look nicer with a J... But I'm really not at all sure that K8 is worth pursuing on that board in this game, where there's so much loose money. I think I prefer to stay SOMEWHAT on the safe side just to keep the fold equity that my bets generally have.Statistics: Posted by Aisthesis — Wed Feb 28, 2007 10:54 pm
