SpicyE's call after your raise was pretty dreadful IMO.
I still don't mind your play, because someone had a set (worst case scenario) and you were still about neutral EV to get your money in. If you're up against two pair heads up you're about a cointoss:
Omaha Hi: 820 enumerated boards containing Ks 9h 8h
cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV
As 3c Ah 7h 413 50.37 407 49.63 0 0.00 0.504
5s 5c Kd 9d 407 49.63 413 50.37 0 0.00 0.496
Against two pair plus the manky straight draw/two pair combo, you're looking very good indeed:
Omaha Hi: 666 enumerated boards containing Ks 9h 8h
cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV
As 3c Ah 7h 270 40.54 396 59.46 0 0.00 0.405
5s 5c Kd 9d 208 31.23 458 68.77 0 0.00 0.312
Ts 9c 7c 8d 188 28.23 478 71.77 0 0.00 0.282
Factor in the fold equity, plus the possibility of getting your money all in vs a draw, even a good one:
Omaha Hi: 820 enumerated boards containing Ks 9h 8h
cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV
As 3c Ah 7h 429 52.32 391 47.68 0 0.00 0.523
7s Jc Qh Th 391 47.68 429 52.32 0 0.00 0.477
Or, more likely, a mediocre one:
Omaha Hi: 820 enumerated boards containing Ks 9h 8h
cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV
As 3c Ah 7h 511 62.32 309 37.68 0 0.00 0.623
5s Jc Td 8d 309 37.68 511 62.32 0 0.00 0.377
Even if you run into a set heads up it's not a disaster:
Omaha Hi: 820 enumerated boards containing Ks 9h 8h
cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV
As 3c Ah 7h 279 34.02 541 65.98 0 0.00 0.340
9c 6c 9d 6d 541 65.98 279 34.02 0 0.00 0.660
The play is, of course, much better if these are the sort of players who can fold hands, especially decent ones with significant equity against your holding like bottom set or top two pair to your raise. I would think this would be a very solid play on a typical 200 table, though I'm not always that swashbuckling!Statistics: Posted by Felonius_Monk — Thu Oct 27, 2005 5:42 pm
