I had a good run playing limit a few months back and built up a nice roll. Had a bad streak and started playing PL. Did really well at the $25 tables for a long time, took some shots at the higher limits with a varied degree of success. Nothing terrible, but just was not able to have the big nights that I see others having. For example - I can't remember the last time I was up over 2 buyins at a PL table, which you'd think would have to happen sooner or later, no? My typical night would start like this:
Get a good hand in bad position. Get just enough of a flop to commit to the hand, or get odds to draw on a potential scooper. Miss the turn, get potted and have odds to call. Miss more often than not.
or
Flop a monster and either get sucked out for high, or have a backdoor low hit and split the pot. For example, I've flopped quads twice this past week, played it fast both times and still only got a half pot.
then
Get pissed off and chase something I didn't have odds for. Miss. Rebuy/shut down.
Anyway, went back to playing 2/4 and 3/6 limit and have been regularly killing the game. Kept a few hundred on Party since it's much juicier for PL games, but have slowly donked off/gotten sucked out for all of it. I'm up for the last 2 months, but it's basically my limit winnings overcoming my PL losses.
I'm pretty sure if I go back to playing PL exclusively I'll be back in the black for it, but I really enjoy playing both lately. Is there anything you do that allows you to go back and forth between the 2 seamlessly? There must be something I can do to straighten this out on my own, variance or no variance.
I've considered skipping PL cash games for a while and just playing tournaments, maybe that will force me to tighten up a bit.
Or I could just redeposit on Full Tilt and play Razz.Statistics: Posted by JDLush — Tue Dec 06, 2005 12:43 pm
