It's not the best strategy in the world, but it is good enough, and a lot better than what you're doing now. From now on, always do this. If I see a post by you again where you raise less than 4bb preflop I will hunt you down and either poke you in the eye with a pencil or 'olla' you. Your choice which you prefer.
On the flop your bet is good, I'd make it an even number but yours is fine. On the turn you're check is absolutely perfect. You're using position to keep the pot small with a vulnerable hand that has some showdown value. The J is of course not a good card for you, this is most likely a way ahead/ way behind scenario and a free card isn't too dangerous. Since you check the turn you will induce a bluff/valuebet from a lot of hands you beat (A6, 44, 55, 77, 99 etc) so calling that river bet is a no brainer.
Except for the smallish preflop raise you played it great, I expect that next time you will play it perfectly.Statistics: Posted by Stoneburg — Sun Jul 30, 2006 9:09 am
