The best way to play this type of player is just to bet everytime he checks. You'll gain much more EV than trying to push him off a hand.

Hmm, he was in very ealry position, so his range of hands is huge. I would've folded instantly. No point getting involved in this kind of pots, where u have no info on his holdings.

but it's far more likely he has the 7 through some form of SCs or a small overpair. He may fold the overpair, but even so, there are others in the pot left to act.
