Betting $20 into a $17 pot is usually a sign the player has a hand like top pair, and doesn't want any action/betting out the draws.

If you re-raise to 55 or so, you'll be calling $40 to win $160, or 4:1 on your money to call, and even with him having 2 pair, you're going to win the hand 30% of the time (5 outs on the turn and 8 outs on the river) So even if he accidently flipped over his K2, you'd still call. This is an even money situation if he has 2 pair, and extremely +EV equal to the odds that he'd do it with top pair or a draw.

Hand 1: I got confused by my opponent's play and stupidly checked it down. Villain tabled [Qd][Jd] and MHIG. I was furious with myself afterwards for not either value betting $50 (as Iceman suggested), or even tasking a risk and representing a missed [Ah][Kh] with an $110 bet. After I checked the turn there was little chance he was checking a monster on the river, so not betting the river was very poor play.

I can't quite decide whether betting the turn (knocking out any draws) is preferable to checking the turn and betting the river (increasing the chance I'm called by weaker players).

Hand 2: I felt very strongly he had 2 pair during the hand, but decided to call down villain anyway (thinking that a raise would knock out all the hands that were beating me, but of course the table is draw heavy, so the call's a mistake). He moved in on some blank turn, I called, and he tabled [Kh][2h] and doubled through.

I hadn't paid much attention to the guy before this hand, but he turned out to be a loose passive fish (according to PT) - knowing this, I think a fold would have been correct. There's few things more irritating than not going with your read and finding your read was right!

Hand #2...Raising the flop seems optimal...you should make him pay for chasing whatever he is chasing but if he reraises all in here, you will probably have to fold assuming a set or two pair. If he calls the raise I bet out on the turn if a blank hits. Also, I raise preflop more because you had alot of people call your raise here preflop...maybe bump it up a buck more against a similar table where preflop calls to raises are common.

Hand 2....Raise the flop. If he calls..check behind at the turn and determine the river play from there.

Hand 1: Party $200NL. I don't have a strong image on this table, simply because I kept walking into slowplayed aces. Villain in this hand hasn't been there long, and played one hand where he stacked someone with KK vs QQ, via a cunningly weak bet that induced a check-raise all in - so I have him down as possibly a bit tricky. I have $209 and villain has $412.

Villain limps from utg+1. I raise with [Ah] [Ad] from MP and only villain calls.

Flop: 2 players, $23 and [7h] [Jh] [9c]. Villain checks, I bet $15, and he check raises to $35. I have a little think, then call.

Turn: 2 players, $93 and ([7h] [Jh] [9c]) [4s]. Villain checks, I check behind.

River: 2 players, $93 and ([7h] [Jh] [9c] [4s]) [6d]. Villain checks.

What range of hands do you put villain on, and what do you do on the river (eg check it down, bet 1/2 pot, full pot, overbet the port)?

I'm interested in any other comments on flop and turn (fold/reraise flop, bet turn).

Hand 2: Party $100NL (6 max). For reference, I have VPIP about 40% and PFR about 20% ... it's fair to say I have an aggressive image. Villain has not played many hands yet. He has $95 and I have him covered with $210. I have [As] [Ac] in the cut-off and raise a limper to $4. Limper and Villain call. The button, big blind, and limper all call.

Flop: 4 players, $17, and [2c] [Jd] [Kd]. Villain bets $20, limper folds.

What's your plan of attack for the rest of the hand?
