I win quite a few pots like this.
In this case, while I do think I lose occasionally here, I think I'm ahead way over 50% of the time (and am getting 3:1). Pretty much as I figured, he flips over AK, and I win a very big pot.
I think a Q is going to either bet the turn (and I do fold the turn if he bets) or else check-trap all the way. There are hands he's ahead of that I can have, but he's better off letting me bet.
I should perhaps add that the mini-raise didn't seem to mean big pair necessarily. He just raised like that--and had raised maybe 4 times in 30 hands. The flop overbet also didn't look to me like a big hand.
The reason I really posted this hand is that I think calls like this can make a HUGE difference in one's HU win-rate.
I'm taking it that ice's "why" refers to the part in bold. I really think any 2 are worth limping--particularly against a rare raiser. If you get up to maybe 40% raising or better from BB, then I do fold this PF. I think it would be a mistake not to complete, however. And I really don't think I'm a very big dog against a large part of his range (any hand with no pair in it--and I even think I'd seen him limp with some middle pairs).Statistics: Posted by Aisthesis — Wed Oct 10, 2007 4:30 pm
