Interesting...
I think the problem is, like you said, in a ring game, you can simply rebuy...and I become more likely to fall in love with a hand and refuse to lay it down...whereas in a tourney, I have no problem laying down top two pair, on a board that doesn't have a flush or straight draw when I feel someone hit trips.
And, vice versa, another player is likely to fall in love with their hand...and would fold in a tournament, but will keep it, and then hit their out for the boat to beat my nut flush.
It's the same reason I hate playing rebuy tournaments...not so much that I play more agressive because I can rebuy...but because other players do.
I noticed right away when I got poker tracker that it had me pegged as a Loose-Agressive/Passive player...and I quickly changed that. I looked at what I would play, and I was guitly of raising pre-flop with low suited connectors, or T-Q with a suited junk connector...
...I've stopped doing that. And as a general rule, if one of the cards is under a ten, there's no point in playing it.
Tonight will be a big test, since I have my live weekly game with friends, to see if the changes I've made to my game in the past week translate well. The changes have made me a much better SnG player, to the point where I've only been finishing out of the money because I made a bet/call/raise I knew I shouldn't have, and it came back to bite me.
...now if only I could get poker tracker to analyze my live game Statistics: Posted by Gibble — Tue Mar 07, 2006 10:39 am
