My biggest weakness is that I tend to get impatient and make stupid moves. This post, and, well, this thread will catalogue the stupid mistakes I make hoping that this will help me change my ways. Others can feel free to use this post as a thread of shame.
So the MTT today, 209 entrants, 30 pay. It was down to 76 with blinds at 75/150. Average stack was about 4000 I had 2300 (M of 10) and I was UTG.
I picked up KQo and for some reason it looked good to me. I raised 500, got a caller from a CS who had just doubled up to 12000, then BB woke up and pushed all in. A call would leave me with 300 chips, so I just pushed.
So maybe the pfr was excusable if I though I could taje the blinds (too many CSs showing down with weak values, so it was stupid to try). But the call/push was just boneheaded. It was very likely that I was dominated, so folding was called for.
Anyway, the MP player called with JJ and the BB turned over AQ. All low cards on the board, so MP has an easy road to the final table.
I should have just waited patienty, folded pf, pay my blinds, and try to start stealing from LP (I had been moved around a lot, so I hadn't been paying blinds or been in LP for a while). WIth an M of 10, I was in no rush to do something this rash. WIth an M of 4, maybe, but at 10, there is still plenty of play left in those chips. Furthermore, given that people were dropping like flies, all I needed was one double up to likely make the money.Statistics: Posted by Kuso — Sat Feb 18, 2006 10:40 am
