How much to bet when to bet is hard to master. I find that I change my style with each MTT. Most of the time the table is going to dictate the betting. If the blinds are getting raised everytime then throw your drawing hands out the window.
The hardest thing for a limit player to learn when playing NL is drawing hands can cost you a lot of chips. I play drawing hands early while the blinds are still low. But most of the time when you do hit your flush or straight you don't get paid off so risk doesn't justify the reward. So play your drawing hands when you can limp in but if you miss the flop don't chase.
If your new I would advise playing tight aggressive from start to finish. As you learn you can start shifting gears. Don't slow play anything. Remember win a little or lose a lot.
