Growing frustrated with losing complete stacks to 2 & 3 outers (no lie, happened 4 times in 2 hours on Saturday), I've decided to come back to where I started - Limit.

Seems I've forgotten much... not that I knew much anyway.

But on to my question.

I'm playing micro limits. Say I'm in LP with AK, a limper or 2 to me and I raise. I get a couple callers so maybe 3 others and I see the flop.

Flop comes Axx or even AKx rainbow. One of the EP callers leads into me.

I started out raising here, but then the EP raiser wouild call and then check/fold the turn.

I've also tried calling. When I do this, EP bets again on the turn and I raise. He calls then check/calls the river.

I've run both plays several times and it seems to have worked well.

I know it's dangerous to give anything that hit the board a "free" card on the flop by just calling. But it seems to extract lots of extra bets.

Thoughts? Am I setting myself up here?

Depends...are you getting callers between you and the EP bettor? If so I prefer to pop the flop usually, just because I'd rather not play 1 pair against multiple opponents, and if everyone just plans on calling hoping to somehow get lucky I'd rather make them pay as much as possible. Plus if they miss the turn and the EP player bets again they might not call the turn if the EP player fires again because they may be worried about getting raised again by us.

HU I'll usually wait till the turn to pop it because that's usually where you'll find out how much someone likes their hand. Unless you're already beat (i.e a set or 2 pair since a lot of people will play Ax) our opponet is usally drawing to 3 outs (his other hole card unless there's a possible 4 flush on the turn), so making him put 2 bets in to see the final card usually causes him to make an even bigger mistake. Plus like you said a lot of players won't lay a hand down especially at the micros on the turn.

Top pair at a full table is usually a good but not great hand and against multiple opponents I'd rather try to win before the SD more often than not.
