Flush hand 6 max...bad play or bad luck?

Postby Pok 7's » Thu Sep 14, 2006 12:47 am

This IS a pretty standard line here isn't it? Not a lot of hands on villian only about 70 but here it is: 26.5/11/4.8 aggy!! Too aggressive on the turn? Check/call the river?

Poks, you realize that all that aggro factor means is he folds alot, people with those kind of numbers rarely call, hence the big time aggro numbers. I stopped using aggression factor and only use aggression frequency now as it is alot more useful.

Anyway, yeah you opponent had a hand, but you also had a big hand I play the turn exactly the same and same with the river. You occasionally get these guys playing AA in this fashion, you are only beat by 1 hand so you obviously can't slow down.

I keep going full steam ahead on the river. The [Kc], [Qc], and [Jc] are all accounted for, so the best hand he could have that beats you is [Ac] [Tc]. Is that something he'd 3-bet on the flop?

I think this is AA/KK far more often than the flush.

No way i go full steam ahead on the river. I play this just about exactly how P7s played it. YOur right, the first thing i thought was that the mizor must have [Ac] [Tc]. Hes a real tighty, at 26.5/11/4+, and very aggressive- i guess he couldve tried to pull a move off with like [7c] 8c]- im about 27% and its not uncommon for me to do that sorta thing-- but him raising to that river lead is real bad for you-- my general rule is this:

When im nut-flushed vs non-nut flushed, or set over setted, i usually lose 4 bets on the turn and no more than 2 on the river.
I think you played it fine.

I look at it this way with hands like this: If you put in that river reraise and your beat, as you are a fair amount of the time here, your gonna lose two bets because your gonna get capped off. If your good and you three bet it, your only gonna make one extra bet since hes probly not gonna cap it off with a non nut hand there. Since your lookin at a possible loss of two BB for a gain of only one, you gotta be fairly sure your ahead here to put that raise in, and i dont think you can possibly be that sure given this action, and that you gotta tight opponent, even though he's aggressive.
