When you are getting 3.33 to 3.5 odds to call a bet HU then I am going to call 99% of the time (the hands that I will let go are going to be trouble hands that contain a big card that might get me in trouble if I hit a pair with it especially when a solid player has raised up front). The reason is that you are generally never that far behind in odd percentage hand quality wise and you don't have to hit that often to make up for all the times you call and miss the flop completely and check fold. Just because you defend your blind preflop doesn't give you a license to spew chips post flop if you miss, just let it go if the flop is of no help (help can be in more ways than actually hitting a pair or draw). And sure every once in a while you are going to flop a big hand and run into a bigger hand and look like a donk for defending with 72o but that just comes with the territory and shouldn't lessen your resolve to continue to put up resistance.
