I'm going to go out on a limb here and say nobody here has ever really tried it but what the hell, I'll throw it out there anyway.

It's talked about in HPFAP (it says it's rarely done only by tourists) so I call it that. Basically it's limping in OTB and a post flop blind steal, probably not that viable in a tight aggressive table but I see it a lot the low limits and it seems to work fairly often.

Everyone folds to the button who limps. The blinds check the flop and the button bets and both blinds fold.

Now I understand this flies against our general style of play OTB. But this is more just for discussion pro/cons etc.

I hate it because you are allowing marginal hands a free shot at the flop. I'd much rather raise it and try to scoop the blinds before they see 60% of the board. Your play will get you the same money when it works, but will allow them to hit a board they never should have seen and will cost you more $ in the long run.

I've made this play every now and then. I only do so when the blinds are just absolutely awful. The type that won't fold to a raise with any two cards, are super passive postflop, all that. Roy Cooke has wrote a few articles about blind defense for cardplayer, including one where he makes this play. In fact, I think the title of the article has "tourist play" in it somewhere. I'm too lazy to search for it, but check it out.
