But I'm not necessarily a big fan of even playing this hand so far out of position. KJ is suicide.

Nor am I a big fan of raising the flop for a free card with so many people in the pot and still two people to play behind you. That's usually going to get more expensive before you see the turn.

How can you absolutely not put him on two clubs? As this played out, two clubs were just as likely as anything else he might have. He played it as if he were an aggressive player on a draw, which as it turns out, is exactly what he was.
