I'm just writing this on here to get a few other oppinions. Sorry if this is all a little scattered, this was my friends hand.

Stars. .5/1 nl

Friend has a full stack of $100. both villains have a full stack. No reads on either player.

Villain 1 (V1) open limps. Friend limps in MP [2c]. Villain 2 (V2) limps behind him. Both blinds play.
5 way pot. $5.
flop: [5d][Js].

BB bets $1. V1 raises to $4. friend min reraises to $7. V2 cold calls. BB folds. V1 calls.
3 way turn. $27.


V1 checks. Friend bets $25. V2 calls. V1 calls.

3 way river. $102.

v1 checks. friend checks. V2 goes all for $67. V1 calls.

So here's the question. Is there any way in hell that you lay down your set of 2's? More importantly, what do you put V2 on?











Personally, i said there wasn't any way he could lay it down. Of course, he was behing a set of 5's the whole way from V2, and the masterful QJ from V1. He's convinced he should have laid it down, i say that's a terrible fold if he does. Any one other oppinions?

No way away giving the cards you describe...I do not think the hand was misplayed and think his check on the end shows some awareness.

I agree about the river check. I'm probably all in on the river. Either way I couldn't drop it.

Also, I'm not a fan of the min raise on the flop. If he raised a decent amount and was called or raised (which might have happened since the pot got big enough) you would have a better idea what others had. Making it $7 just lets any draw in and you can't tell if they are trapping or just calling with tptk.

I can't really see not losing my stack here.

I agree you can't really get away from the bottom set with such an agreeable board, but is limping ducks from MP really a moneymaking play? I will almost never play deuces from anywhere but late position or an unraised blind.

implied odds. He is paying $1 for a decent chance to get a $100 stack from one of his opponets which will happen a lot more often than him losing his own stack.

FWIW I play all pairs from any position and will call raises even with the small pairs out of position. The only time I give up these pairs is when a very tight player raises and I may be head-up with him. If someobody makes it 4-5X the big blind I will usually call with any small pair so long as they have as many chips as me. If I have dueces and a player with $30 (in my .50/1.00 on Stars game) makes it $4-5 to go I wil lfold.
