I also disagree that he will only call when we're beat because Ive done this enough and gotten called enough to know its not true.

Now, Im sure he will fold most hands we beat, but not all of them. He will also fold some hands that beat us, so thats another advantage.

I dont care if he folds alot of hands that we beat because as I said, the CRAI protects our checks in later hands. You need to be able to check when OOP and have people be afraid to bet and take the pot away from you. You will get more "check behinds" if you CRAI more often even when you know for sure he wont call.


Also, alot of the hands that will fold to our CRAI ( like JJ-88) are the same hands that floated us on the flop and wouldve given up and folded to a turn bet. The CRAI gets more money out of those hands and doesnt give them a chance to shove the river as a bluff and get us to fold the best hand.

Lets say youre playing $1/$2. The button raises to $7. I call in the SB and you call in the BB with TT.

Flop comes 963. I lead $14 into the $21 pot. You call and the preflop raiser folds.

Pot is $49. Turn is an ace. I check. What do you do? I assume most people would bet here. Maybe $30ish? You have to assume I have no ace. Assuming Im a decent player I wouldnt call a raise from the SB with A9, A6 or A3 and if I was that bad, i wouldnt lead with it. Bad players rarely lead like that. So you would assume youre ahead and bet right?

Now I CRAI...what do you put me on and what do you do? Not exactly the same hand but similar. I'll tell you this. I dont have an ace, but I know you dont either. I dont know if I have you beat or not, so I dont know if this is a value bet or a bluff. You dont know which it is either, but you are the one with your head in a vise now, not me.

If I wouldve check called the turn, I would be in trouble when you make a big river bet. Now youre in big trouble and I dont care if you fold a hand that I beat because you wont be betting a turn in a hand like this next time.
