CO is a weak player. BB is somewhat strange, not regular, but it seems that he knows a bit about poker, plays quite tight, etc.

CO has 600, BB has 500, I cover.

Preflop: CO reaise to 18, I call OTB with [Ac] [Qd] , BB min-reraises to 36, CO call, I call.

Flop (118): [As] [Ad] [3h]
BB bets 60, CO folds, I?

The standard line would be to call, as there is no draws to protect from. But it looks like a very good situation for 3rd leveling, i.e. raising big to about 220 'representing' an A.
Thoughts?

Everytime I raise to look bluffy, they instafold. I think its good to raise in this spot occasionally though...so either play is OK.

Zmej has it right about going broke if he has AK. Surely, he didn't make that pre-flop play with AJ, A10, A anything but AK. Who has position? Your example would have you checking the flop which is fine. If you raise, you may lose the hands you can beat. Once you slow play, you are trapped by AK but you were rather trapped golng in.

I can't see him betting again unless he can beat you. This might be one of those times you call on the flop and call on fourth if he does bet to make him have confidence in a hand you can beat. Then you move in on fifth to catch a call from the hands you could beat. Even if you both check on fourth street, I am betting on fifth if I would call it.

If he has a pair like QQ or JJ, he is through betting if you call the flop bet. As you said, there is no draw out there. The descriptive term tight plus the re-raise means he has a hand. No one bluffs into that board unless they are playing single handed.

I can think of many players I would fold to, possibly there, possibly on fourth if they bet. Super-rocks. You have, what?, thirty-six bucks in the pot? The re-raise means he has AK, or a pair. He is correctly betting about half the pot. He doesn't want to lose you.

Would you lay down AQ if there was only one Ace on the flop to the same guy? He may know what he is doing. He might have KK, QQ, and be lured by double Aces on the board. There are not a lot of hands he can have if he is tight and AK is the most likely.

I think he won't 3rd level with you enough times to make it right...all you can really hope for is to maybe check behind the turn and get a bet on the river.

I think a flat flop call announces an Ace, so a raise looks good to me here as I think he has a PP more often than AK, and you have to hope he comes along.
