Bet as much as you think he can call, (at least 44), if he pushes I would call given desctiption.
edit: and why ouch? J is not a bad card here especially ifhe has KJ or AJ.

$44-$55 looks good with a donk.
When he check/calls the turn, this is a great card because it's more likely he has a Ten than a bad Jack and he'll call. A loose player playing the turn like this usually has KT/QT/T8/J8 or diamonds and if paired is just calling in the hope that you have diamonds.
Against someone more sensible, I'd bet more like $40-$49, depending on how sensible I think they are. If he has busted diamonds, he won't call anything and there's no reason to try to lure Ace high into calling if there were reason to believe he had an Ace high diamond draw because he'd've led the flop.

I bet on the weak side - 57. He minraised me. I called (I think I was close to AI at that point).
