NL 400 Shorthanded

Hand 1: Dealt 3 3 in SB, UTG min-raises to 8, one caller, I call. BB calls. (My stack 500)

Flop: 3 9 J rainbow.

I lead out for 25, get 2 callers.

Turn: K I bet 70, next player calls, next player moves all-in for 700.
*Q10 is a very possible hand but I don't believe he would have just moved in with it for all his stack with all the action going on. After timer ticks to one second I make myself believe he has KJ and call, other guy folds. Villain flips over KK and thats all she wrote.

Definitly feel I made an error in this hand. I convinced myself into KJ because I didn't want to lay my set down, I knew I was beat. Costed me my stack. Wondering what you all feel.

Hand 2: (very next hand) Dealt KK. I limp UTG, 2 callers, big blind raises to 20, I smooth call, rset fold.

Flop: 555 . He checks, I bet 40, he min-raised, I call. Turn 6, he checks, I bet 100, he calls.

River: 7, he moves in for 250, I putr est of my chips in. He has AA

I don't feel like I played this second hand bad one bit, it happens. Once again, comments welcome .

Hand 3: A very aggressive player been stealin my blinsd a lot and we been battling, my stack is around 440, his 400.

Folds to him in SB , he raises to 15, I have AQo and pop him up to 40, he calls. Flop comes 3 4 5 rainbow. He checks, I bet 75 he calls. Turn comes Q. He checks, I bet 200, he moves me in for last lil bit I call. He has A2s Chips slide his way. More comments please, its been a hell of a rough 2 hour session today.

Thanks All

This post almost put me on tilt!

Honestly is sounds like you've hit some abyssmal luck lately. I know I couldn't have layed down that KK hand (and I don't think you should have either). The other two hands were a little more marginal, but still tough hands.

Keep playing, things will turn around.

Yea, problem is after all 3 I was still only down 400 but then I went on tilt and threw away another grand, I can never sotp compounding the losses, I really have to overcome it. Then I was thinking of jumping already to 1000 NL tommorow to try to chase but obviously that is really sutpid. I gotta watch myself carfully, cashed out a lil so that I get a refreshing feeling.

I would almost strongly suggest that every NL player drops down in limits and plays LAG for a while. Your tolerence for swings will be greatly improved.

During my biggest run ever in 15/30 limit.... I played 2 tables at a time. For 10 days straight, I won at least 1k. However, interestingly enough, if I ended the session up 1k, I always started the session down 1k. When I won 2k, I started off down 2k. My best day I started off the session down 100 BB.

Granted these were all 12+ hour sessions.

I don't know what it is, maybe it takes me a while to figure out how to beat my opponnents, maybe I don't play my A game early on, and maybe I don't play my A game unless I start off behind and have to play catch-up.... but it happenned EVERY single day those 10 days, and resulted in 15k.

The best result of this whole thing is at the time I was really emotionless to losses. In fact, I kinda liked losing at the beginning because it was in my comfort level. I always felt weird when I started off a session winning, and I almost always gave back my profits by the end of the session.

The same is now true of my NL ring sessions. I believe I have ended every NL ring session I've played in months with at least 5 buyins. However, I always started off my sessions losing a few, and my profits depended on just how many buyins I'd lose.

My NL ring sessions go like this. I start off the sessions basically playing anything, playing it aggressively, and trying to double up. If I take the worst of it a few times, it just helps my loose image. Eventually, you take enough risks and you will get a big stack. But now, you have a crazy image, so if you happen to catch a hand against another big stack, I'm in position to get a LOT more out of it than the average tight player. Taking the worst of it a few times with just 1 buyin in front of you is nothing compared to taking SIGNIFICANTLY the best of it when you've got 4 buyins in front of you.

For that reason, I usually blow through a few buyins to start my sessions off. I've blown through over 10 buyins on more than one occassion. (but not more than say 3) But on average, it's usually 3 or 4.

The key to this whole thing though is you have to play long sessions, otherwise it simply doesn't work.
