Bizzare NL Hit and Go Strategy - What do you think??

Postby WildBillHickok » Mon Jan 31, 2005 3:15 pm

I was playing in a .50/1.00 NL yesterday and some guy joins the table...say his name is
Bizzarro...on his very first hand...he was on the BB, UTG makes it 3x BB, another calls, button calls, even SB calls...(i see on ave. 4 seeing the flop w/ a 3x bet at this level) Bizzarro goes all in for his $50...everyone folds...we didn't see his hand and he collects about $13.50...then leaves the game immediately...
ONE of the guys followed him and saw him do the same thing at another table...he won and left the table...(he had only a $50 buyin there too) ....
I immediately thought, he's doing this hit and run everywhere...say he collects about $12 every time... say only someone w/AA, KK, QQ or even AK (many times someone w/AK would NOT call him) would call his all in...so maybe about only once in 40 times, someone would call him...and a few times they did, he'd still win...so let's say his system only fails once in every 50 times...that's 50 X 12 = $600 -$50, for a win of $550 - rake, so say he nets $500 every 2 hours. (it doesn't take long to find this situation for him....he waits for his BB to get in, and goes all in if 3-6 players come in....and he does this of course with any 2 cards...a very few times, he may actually HAVE a good hand and win anyway)
He's making about $250 an hour... That's at a $100 NL game...he may try a $200 ring game and make double...$500 an hour.
I know, eventually they'd catch on at this site and start looking him up...but suppose he jumps around, from PP to UB to PS to ....etc He does this, say 8 times on each site and at each other site, till he gets his 50 hands in, then he starts the loop again....

I think that's what he was doing....what's wrong with this system? What do you think?

Just because a poor play shows positive short-term results doesn't mean it is a profitable way to play. He will go broke with this system in a relatively short period of time. The only thing he gains from switching tables is being an "unknown" at the new table; therefore, his bet will get more respect than it would if he stayed at the same table.

Besides that, if he is making this play when the UTG is raising he will run into AA, KK, or QQ a high percentage of the time.

"run into AA, KK, QQ high percentage of the time"
don't know about that partner...odds of that are more than 1 out of 73 times...seeing many would NOT raise 3x utg with those, and 1 out of 73 is the likely number of times to have those hands.
Still think it's a viable strategy...but you'd need lots of fortitude to try it...still...

It's not a bad system if you are a losing player. If you are a winning player, there is no reason to be doing this when you can beat the game straight-up and for a lot more. And you won't have to risk losing your buy-in since word will spread relatively quickly about this type of player.

I wouldn't attmept this strategy at PP. I've is preflop all ins from every pair there, and AJ AT, and a couple KQ's. That is not mentioning the T6 allin blind steal attempt the last time I played. Guy with AJs called and the T6 doubled up. Next hand he went all in again, and the big stack at the table called his all in with a limped AA hand.

I've been all-in with AA against two or more opponents over fives times preflop because PEOPLE CALL. It's in their nature.
