I don't see him raising your bet on the river with just A-high or an overpair unless your read on hin being a solid player is wrong lol!.....
If you have already let him take previous pots on the turn he must realise you have something when you check call both the flop and turn

. If he is bluffing he has serious balls because he already fired twice and then you make a decent bet (looks like a value bet to me?) on the river and he raises you pretty hard.

If villain has been trying to take it away all the way, or if he has an overpair, the river raise makes sense. He cannot really put xaston on a 6, even less on a 9, so I'm not sure what he's hoping to be called by, A high?

first, i'm not a no limit guy, so take the following for what it's worth (nothing):

- i like every street (flop discussion below) and i'd just call the river raise. i'd just call because villain could very well have lucksacked into a bigger boat and i think this hand is worth the amount that has been put in the pot.

- the flop is fine if you think you can trap. i usually like to play aggressively with my big hands so that my bluffs are believable. i imagine that there was a lot of metagame going on, so it's hard to say what the best line is out of context. that being said, i don't think one can say that this is a bad line -- just one of many possible lines.

- i want to know how villain responded if you played back at him with a flop CR, a delayed CR on the turn, or a donk bet on the turn. that would be useful info.

Villain had 99.

I figured with the way things were running he could figure I'm ready to take a more marginal hand to showdown. The board is paired and every donk loves there small pocket pair (what I'm hoping to represent) when the flop is paired. I figured this way I could represent something like 44.

I mean, I don't have my usual crazy image, in fact he probably thought I was a little pushoverable/weak tight post flop, so I don't think bet-3 betting or check raising the flop or turn are gonna get me much more money.
