Bet the flop.

bet flop, raise turn, and then you wont have to overbet so much on the river. if he has a Jack here you should have stacked him. if he has a flush draw on the turn he'll probably call a raise. if he just has a Queen, well, then you played it perfectly. but i think thats rarely the case

he had 10s, 7s, so i did play it right, but I agree if he had the j I should have bet the flop

technically you played it in a way that got you more money than you would've got had you bet the flop, however, theoretically the correct play here is to bet the flop, raise the turn, as stoneburg and ua1176 have already said..

I'm gonna have to disagree with Stoneburg on this one. You can't lead out on the flop because aside from one of two jacks or the case eight, there are no cards he could have to call with. When you flop a boat, you HAVE to give them a chance to make some sort of hand. Obviously certain situations can lead to you betting this, but imo, this just isn't one of them.

Don't confuse this with sets, though. Betting sets is +EV

I was praying he'd hit A high and he was going to come over the top of me. His comments after the hand indicated how suprised he was to lose the hand - I'm sure he learnt his lesson playing with 10-4s!
