texan, before you ask if you played this right, ask this question. If the board hadn't paired on the river, would you still be questioning your play here?
If not, then you just need to chalk this up as variance.
That being said, you're not giving us anywhere enough information here. What stakes are you playing? how deep are the stacks?
I'll break this down the best i can for you.
limping A6s utg is a terrible play, and you're going to lose a lot of money in the long run if you continue to do that. I don't care how pretty those two cards look when they're the same suit, they're really just dirty whore that are trying to take your money from you. Say not to them. Or better yet, they're good looking, but you they really had a sex change operation. They really just aren't as good as you think.
your flop play is fine. it sounds like you're getting crazy odds, so nothing wrong with calling here.
On the turn, I prefer to lead out rather than risk giving a free card, plus i want to get as much money from a lower flush as possible, and charge people with hands like JT to see the river. However, with players behind you, there's nothing terribly wrong with the check. once the player pushes, it's hard to imagine him jamming a boat. The only player i'm worried about is UTG +1, who could have just turned quads. But barring that I don't mind calling here.
once the river hits, well. that's just bad luck. It sounds like you're up against KxJx (maybe
. there's really nothin you can do here but sigh and say "oh well"
seriously though, stop playing hands like A6s out of position.
