Ok, there is an exception to my hatred of short handed games. I am doing well now, in the 30-60 stud8 games, on stars. There is so much skill in this game, when most pots are heads up. Well, let me define "skill" to me, skill means that the best starting hand, is going to hold up, much more often than not.
If you have A 3 5, and are up agaisnst 2 3 7 well, I like the ace hand.
I'll take four players. This way, you're not the low card every other hand, and it's FAST
I like full handed stud, too. But, as I become less and less patient, I'm starting to embrace CERTAIN short games.
If the blinds are low, such as in the 400 buy in games, 2-4, I'll take short handed games.
BUT in limit games, where on has to put up substantial blinds, FORGET IT.
To me, the equivilent of a 400 buy in game, is 10-20. So, the blinds there, are 5 10 vrs. 2-4 for a big bet game.
As long as it doesn't KILL the action, the pro player seeks out the smallest blinds possible.
