I'm in the BB with
and have a full stack. Villain has raised my blind every single chance he gets when everyone folds to him in the CO. He has a full stack as well.
Folds around to CO and villain raises to $2, button folds, SB folds, and I reraise to $6. He calls.
Flop -
: $12
I lead for $8, villain thinks for a second and calls.
Turn -
: $28
I check, he immediately checks.
River -
: $28
I try a blocking bet for $9, he folds.
After he called my bet on the flop, I pretty much gave up on the pot. He either had a flush draw, a hand like KQ, QJ, AQ, or a straight draw. Against the draws, eventhough i technically had the best hand, my read wasn't all that great on him as far as his postflop play was concerned. I don't want to play for a super large pot with two 2's, eventhough it has already gotten too big for my liking (damn his call on the flop).
When he checked behind me on the turn, I most definitely figured him for a draw. If a J, 6, or club didn't come off on the river, I planned on betting the river thinking that I most likely had the best hand. If I checked again, he'd most likely make a bet that I couldn't call. I thought a small bet on the river here was safe. If he raised me, I could get away, if he called and had me beat, I still got to the showdown cheaper than if I tried to bet the pot. And if he folds, like he did, I win.
