'Right now I see (2) .50/$1 PL games going'

Yes, very rarely 2 games at the same time are open, I saw them, too. But most of the time no single 10-handed table >0.25/0.50 is open
Why is PL so unpopular? In my opinion it is a good compromise between limit and no-limit.

By the way, not to be misunderstood, I like gaming club and I agree with Iceman that there are many weak players.
