I hit a set against this villian earlier in the session and bet into him. He raised I called. He folded to my turn check raise (although he was so cautious his turn bet was only $14 into about a $55 pot). Generally he is not very aggressive (1.5ish). No other hands of note were played aginst him this session.
b]Pre-flop:[/b] (8 players) Hero is UTG+1 with
UTG folds, Hero calls, 2 folds, CO raises to $10, 3 folds, Hero calls.
Flop: ($23, 2 players)
Hero checks, CO checks.
Here I check to mix it up from last time. Also there is no Ace on the flop, so he may have a missed AK that he might CB.
Turn: ($23, 2 players)
Hero bets $14, CO calls.
Can't give another feebie. I bet small enough that he can raise me without the fear of pot committing himself.
River: ($51, 2 players)
Hero bets $30, CO calls.
I thought of check raising here, but I think this is the play.
Results:
Final pot: $111
Hero showed 5s 5c
CO mucks Ks Kc
Very oddly played by villian IMO. He saved himself by checking the flop, but then made a questionable river call. He said he had a "funny feeling". I'm not sure how to play this hand against a passive player like this. I think betting into him on the flop would have made him even more cautious, but he obviously can't fold. Funny thing is, this villain is one of the biggest winners I have in my database (I have about 600 hands on him).
I guess I just have to bet into him on all streets with my big hands? Other than that, it seems he may be more observant than most players and I may need to work on my image when he's around. He must think I am very tight post flop. He also must know that most of the time in this situation I am set mining.
