WTF to do in situations like this? I flop something like TPTK, get in betting OOP, get called on flop, get called on turn and the instapush rr all-in on river. I can't be good here, or does he bet allin because I showed weakness by a 1/2 pot bet on the river? I smelling a set here, or maybe a rivered straight, but somehow its

Is there any way to avoid getting in to this?

I like your line, and you have to fold that river. You could also check but then if he bets you don't know whether he's betting a busted flush draw, or the straight, or a set, so i think in this case a blocking bet is nice.. most people wont raise you on a bluff, anyway.

And the way you played it, he knows you like your hand

Without a particular read I check river in this situation,as I put him on a draw, or weak K.
With a weak K the problem is he is very likely paired his kicker 8,9,T, leaving only Q and J that would pay you on the river. Straight draw just got there, if he had a flush he is not calling anything, so a must check.
Being OOP sucks.

As played I fold, QJ, or he paired his kicker with K 9.

One thing that I have started to do to avoid this situation is to not open raise with AK oop. If your raise gets called you will be oop most of the time, it also keeps the pot small and allows you to get off the hand a lot cheaper when you run into lots of resistance.

I have started to check/call the turn with this type of hand.

it keeps the pot small plus if he is drawing and misses he is more likely to bluff the river.

if I think he isn't drawing but has TP weak kicker I may bet the river even the suited card for the flush falls. Plus I often find it looks like I am drawing by checking, so I bet the flop, he calls, i check the turn, he bets, I call
river is a flush card, I check, he checks and I get to showdown fairly cheaply

the only problem is when he bets the turn then you check the river and he bets
of course if he does that you know you aren't good anyway

your line is fine, and this is probably how i would play the hand. check-calling this river would suck. a ton of drawing hands have either made their straight or hit 2 pair. if you're not going to bet this river then you should just check/fold (which is fine too against certain opponents).

other possibilities:

1. dont raise PF. you should be raising here frequently, but maybe not always.

2. check/call the turn. good if villain will play KQ/KJ/KT like this. you can then either block the river or check-fold depending on how things work out.
