I had the chance to watch some 25NL at party last night as I was coaching a guy -- I wasn't sitting at the table, but he was telling me his cards on IM so I could evaluate his play in real time. If this situation had come up, I've had told him to call in a heartbeat, expecting that he'd win the hand about 90% of the time against a half stack player.

With that said, I think his check raise is a little ugly, so I expect his range of hands to include sets, but to also include A9, TT, JJ,.88, 66, 89, and probably some other things I haven't thought of. He didn't raise it preflop, so we're not crediting him with KK or AA here.

Against a half stack when you've got a good overpair, I don't think you can lay down to that board.

Yeah, thats one of the reasons why I called, he had a set of 9s
