We know what the turn min raise means BUT....

What about a flop minraise? I've been seeing this a bit lately and I just don't know if it's at the levels/site I'm at. But I've seen it a few times recently. Once it was a set (forget the exact board but it was drawy, I had TPTK).

Another time it was 2 pair. Raised UTG with AQ in a .25/50 game .. flop came down A9x with 2 hearts. I got min checkraised... Which I thought might have been to get a free card OOP with a FD. He led the turn and I shoved (bad I kow) and he had A9.

Third I folded to and wasn't interested in finding out.

I rasied 4x BB UTG in a .25/.50 6 max game (full stacks) with KQ. Flop came [Kc] [7c] and an off suit baby card. I bet $3 into a $4.25 pot and got min raised by the player behind me.

(Sorry about the fuzzy details, site isn't PT suppored and finding the HH is a PITA).

Anyway is anyone else noticing flop minrasies more frequently? If so what's the overall concensus on them?

It's generally either:

Monster (2p+), a draw, top pair (sometimes TPTK on 8-high flops with A8), or a tweener pair like 99 on K82 flop.

I take very careful notes on what MR's mean for different players...there's no set 'standard' for what a MR means anymore...it used to only be monsters.

Flop min raises mean different things from different players, but in general are not as strong as turn raises.

Often it's a weak playback at a continuation bet, a probe for a medium strength hand, or a free card play for a draw. Sometimes it's the nuts tho lol.

Notes are your friend.

i see it alot at 400nl...even by a couple of the regulars. Ive actually been thinking of using it against flop CB's on dry boards. obv i'd do the same with sets or whatever sometimes but i have a feeling it would be a good play against regulars like myself.
