Think before you bruff, what hand are you trying to represent here? This doesn't look like a set, it looks like AT or a missed straight draw, BK says live players aren't good at folding JJ and I agree but the thing is I dont think that I would folf JJ the way you played the hand.
You know that he knows?? He likely isn't thinking at the same level you are. Old nits eye view.
Preflop: I have a big pair I raise:
Flop: I have an overpair, wtf he bet, I call.
Turn: I still have an overpair.
River: I still have an overpair.
I have played close to 4000 hrs of live poker so I have some experience here. The biggest advantage a good live player has over a bad live players is patience. Playing live the patience is sometimes even more important than skill, people just cant be patient playing live because everything happens so freakin slow. This is one of the reason that when online players play live for the first time they always comment on how soft the games are. Online it makes is much eaiser to fold an overpair first off people play tighter. Also if you have been card dead for 100 hands playing live it means you have been card dead for 5+ hrs after that long it makes folding an overpair that much harder. Online poker is very different, people can much more easily be patient and people tend to play tighter because of that.
If this old nit folded everytime someone bet into him with an overpair, he would see showdown maybe once a session. Even an old nit is not willing to be that patient. There are a bunch of these players that play in SD, they are very easy to play against, if they raise preflop they have JJ or better and if you are going to play a big pot you better be able to beat aces. Trying to bluff these people off the one hand every 4 hrs they play never works.
