Another experiment in not going all-in on the flop with a big overpair...

Full Tilt $200NL.

I have been at the table for about 50 hands and haven't had many cards. I've laid a few hands down on the flop. So if anyone were paying attention, my image would be slightly weak-tight. In this hand, I have $200 and villain has me covered. For some reason, I don't recall having any read on villain.

I open for $9 with KK from UTG, one caller (villain) from E/MP.

The flop comes J98r, I bet out $20 and villain min raises me to $40. This is uncannily similar to a , where I laid down aces.

My options are:
(i) fold
(ii) raise to some largish amount
(iii) call, with the intention of betting big if the turn blanks.

I opt for (iii), call and bet $75 (into the $100 pot) when the turn brings a 3.

Comments on this play? ... the rationale was something like - if villain is behind, it's probably with a big draw (eg AT). So I don't lose too much expectation by waiting for the turn before piling the money in ... conversely, if he's ahead (eg with JJ) then some of the time I get away from the hand when a scare card falls.
