If the short stack has just a pot sized bet left, just put him in with TPTK. Usually the shortie will have a bad pair, a bad draw, and will sometimes call with literally nothing. I've seen times when I've raised preflop, been called by a shortie and when the flop comes AKJ, they will still stack off with 66. The times a shortie will have you beat when you have a decent hand far will be far less for when you either have the shorties dominated or almost drawing dead.
I have such a lack of respect for shorties that if the board is all low cards and I have AK, AQ, I will put them in because in these spots they will usually call with a dominated hand, and will call a decent amount of time with no pair...and of course, the times they fold getting a decent price are nice too(although pretty rare). Shorties play like morons most of the time, so I try to take advantage of that.
The problem I see with draws against shorties is of course, they won't ever fold.
