Without stats, I would rather you bet/3bet or push rather than be the guy calling a 3-bet or push with a hand like 77. Any pair is either crushing you or in a coinflip. I would have folded to the push probably just because the odds are good he is ahead or at least drawing big here. I feel this type of aggression at this level is just spewing money even against a half stack player.
