I would bet/fold the turn and reevaluate the river.

Hand #2-

I would usually 4-town preflop, especially against a nit. Flop call is fine, but I absolutely hate your turn check. You can't disguise the strength of your hand here no matter what line you take, so you might as well just half pot the turn and the river. If he's any good at reading hands he'll realize there are no bluffs and your range and fold QQ/KK to a river bet no matter what, and if he's not any good he'll call two half pot bets on the turn and river so just bet it.

Well in hand 2 I kinda got a little tricky hoping BTN would 4-bet or call, then I could make a big move with lots of dead money in the pot. Too fancy for 50NL?

On the turn I felt that 2nd J really killed the action as AK/AQ might shutdown thinking I hit trips, and KK/QQ are obviously scared because the A/J are both in my range. I was praying that a K or Q would fall on the river and possibly make him a lower boat than mine.

With that blank on the river though, I knew if I bet too big he would be able to make a big laydown, so I put in a smaller sized VB to get QQ or KK to make a crying call.

I guess by checking the turn I won't be able to win a big pot though... and you're right about 4-betting pre-flop.
