I think this is a "move" as it seems to be called in this thread.
you didn't say what your position at the table was. are you right after him? or are you the BB? the hand you need to call in each of those cases is different.
From the BB, i'd consider calling with AK if i felt like gambling. If i'm right behind him, i fold JJ without hesitation. Why? i may have him beat, but do i really want to put in that much of a stack preflop with people left to act behind me? not a chance.
I'm not sure exactly how big of a hand i'd need to call him, but against your average player, from the BB, for about... a 3/5 stack, i'm calling with any pair TT+, and maybe AK. assuming that there's still stacks left to act behind me, i'm probably only calling AA/KK, and maybe QQ.
I just don't think it's worth it to call with a mediocore holding here. He's going to outdraw you often enough/have the best hand occasionaly, and then the added risk of someone waking up behind is too much.
Yes, his range is bigger than normal, but this isn't the best spot to gamble, IMO.
