See if you can put me on a hand

Postby iceman5 » Sun Jul 09, 2006 2:48 pm

You guys know alot about my game so you have an advantage, but Im trying to mix up my game lately so I want to see if you can put me on a hand.

Im still playing tight preflop but mixing up my post flop play more than anything else (with the occasional positional steal raise thrown in as well).

#1) $2/$4 NL 6 max. I open raise to $14 from the button. The SB has $200 and calls.

Pot $32 Flop [Ah][9d][8c]. He checks and I check behind.
Pot $32. Turn [5d]. he leads for $16 and I raise to $61.

#2) $2/$4 NL 6 max....UTG ($300) limps. I raise to $16 in the cutoff. He calls and we're heads up.

Pot $38. Flop [Ah][Tc][2h]. He leads $8. I raise to $38.

#3) $5/$10 NL 6 max. Its folded the the SB and he completes. i raise to $40 and he calls. I have $900 and he has me covered.

Pot $80. Flop [Qs][6d][6c]. He checks, I bet $50 and he calls.
Pot $180. Turn [2s]. He leads $80. I raise to $380

#4) $2/$4NL 6 max. I open raise to $14 from the SB. BB calls. He has $230

Pot $28. Flop [Kd][8c][4s]. I bet $20 and he calls.
Pot $68. Turn [2h] I check, He bets $40. I check raise all in.

#5) $5/$10NL 6 max. 2 limpers and I check from the BB.

Pot $35 Flop [Jc][9c][4d]. I bet $30, MP ($800) raises to $65. I have him covered. Its folded to me and I reraise to $180. He calls.

Pot $395. Turn [9s]. I check, he bets $300. I check raise all in.

Funny thing is, I was going to put in a serious reply here but once I started thinking about each hand I realized I had no friggin clue. Bah.

1) A big ace? I'd have though with anything stronger you'd want to be building a pot.

Or are you getting tricky with TT-KK, thinking he'll lead anything after you check the flop (if so, I don't like)?

2) You should be doing this with any hand you raised with! Death to weak bettors!

3) No idea. A "6"? Doing this with anything less seems dangerous. Though I guess there's a reasonable chance you get a weak-ish Q to fold.

4) Set, or AK/KQ versus an opponent who commonly floats?

5) A "9" of some description or 44 I guess? Trying to push MP off a J or stronger here would be insane.

If you want accurate replies you need to tell us something about the villains in these hands and your table image.

Hand 1: Some pocket pair, I dunno how big. If you're screwing with your game then possibly a big A or twopair, but that'd be a foolish way to vary your play.

Hand 2: Anything.

Hand 3: You should have a 6 or 22 here, but you could also have air.

Hand 4: AK, possibly KQ. Maybe stronger but not especially likely. Maybe air if you have a read.

Hand 5: Often a 9, occasionally some combo straight/flush draw. Edited to add: an overpair.

There are no strong reads in any of the hands that would make much of a difference. These were very short sessions.

Hand #3) It had been folded to a blind battle like 3 times in a row and I raised to $40 each time after he completed. I CB'd both times. I think he called one and I gave up and he folded the flop on the other. Nothing of use as far as a read.

Hand #5 is the same table. I got min raised on the flop 3 times in the past 5-6 rounds. Alot of that crap at this table. Vliian in this hand min raised me once before and I folded. This wasnt a min raise though. It was only a tad more, but if its not a min raise, it measn he has to actually type in his bet which normally means completely different.

Ok, well I think Ive thoroughly confused most of you which means Im mixing up my play pretty well, which is my goal.

#1) I have AA. He folded. I doubt he had much of anything
#2) [Qs][Js]. He folded
#3) [Js][8s]. He folded. This hand scared the crap out of me and I felt like KennyG after he folded.
#4) KJ. He called my all in with K7. LOL
#5) AJ. He folded

Ice i agree about the floating thing but i would actually be more apt to check-raise them on a pure bluff. if they have 77 and like to float then why not check-call the turn bet and either bet small on the river or check-call the river on a board like this you dont really have to worry about draws and he'll rarely have more than 2 outs to beat you.

i didnt realize you guys were both in the blinds, so i actually dont dislike the play quite as much as i did previously. but unless you've built up some aggression between the two of you i'd rather check-call the turn. i think that since it's a blind battle he's even more likely to fire on the river if he has 77 or a bluff.

I agree that I would probably make more off of 77 by check/calling the turn. Maybe I just put alot more stock than some people do into shoving people around when Im pretty sure I have them beat and they wont call.

Ive been on the other side of this situation enough times to know that its very annoying.
