When I began playing NL last month, I employed the Miller short stack play until I realized I really wanted to learn how to play poker. So, I settled into one site and use PT and GT+ to help with opponent reads. What do you guys think of this play as a way to do a little bonus whoring where you'd be playing at a site where you don't have alot of info on your opponents?

I'm thinking this shortstack method is some ancient Chinese secret of Poker... I read your original post and thought I'd try it out. I'm sitting at a $.25/.50 full ring table and theres 3 other people who bought in for the minimum $5 and they're all from China. I'm thinking maybe I should move to another table.

Assumtions: This assumes the player has about a $25/100 sd value hence $2.50 per hand. Also assumes every table is played in the same fashion by the player. The numbers in () gives the number of average play in hands per hour.

Of course one's ev should rise otherwise why play more than 1-table. I do think your ev rises slower though as you add more tables to your play.

No, howard's right about the SD. Your standard deviation goes up with more tables, but not linearly. Think about having a 20x roll for NL and playing 6 tables...you have a whole lot more than just 5% in play at any time - that'd be 30%...you get stacked on each table at once...BAD day. So your SD goes way up by playing more tables, and you need a bigger roll to multitable than you do single table (a 20x roll for NL is huge for one table, small but adequate for multitabling).

The odds aof getting stacked at all 6 tables at the same time is so astronimically low if you are a good winning player.

The odds are alot higher that you will win some at some tables and lose a little at others, which evens out the swings and lowers your daily variance.

Multi-tabling makes no difference to your variance, except when playing more tables affects the quality of your play.
