the issue with WT is that it is one category trying to indicate 2 things


1st somone who is liable to fold if bet at on flop

2nd somoene who is likely to have the goods if it gets to showdown

You can see why low WtSD% is indicative of both to some extent. We would like to split this category into 'good WT players' and 'bad./weak ones' but we don't have an extra category free..

For the moment what I am doing is having W$SD as one of the stats permanently on display and being sure to check it when I see the WT icon. Then I know what type of WT player we are playing with.

If you want to make the icon indicative of just the winning WT Players you can use the follwoing rule (which was AP10's original suggestion)::

Went To Showdown % is less than or equal to 18.00
Won $ At Showdown % is between 65.00 and 99.00

Personally think there is a strong case for pushing the W$SD figure up to 67% here so you don't get a lot of 2/3 players rated in here.

m9man - no reason not to - and it will be handy for you to understand them better if you intend to use them as and when you move up..

It's not so much about helping you win $ at that level , as enabling you to watch as the player tyeps interact and the money flows over the long haul from the bad types to the good ones..

As a new convert to NL and therefore new to your autorate I would like to say thanks. The rules seem meaningful and effective. Great job. Did I read that you (excession) intended to produce some notes / guide vis how to play the various icon / player types? If so I look forward to it.

I was shocked to discover (after a few hundred hands admittedly) I am rated as an ultra aggressor. What do you estimate is a reasonable number of hands to achieve a moderate - good degree of stability in terms of your Iconic Rating?

a few hundred is fine to categorise and UA is where you want to be (as long as not loose pre-flop)

love the new rules... especially the showdown muppet...so many times the old rules failed to provide enough info and im glad its a priority ranking as ive seen all the traditional types [LPP,TAA, etc] showdown and lose too often..

and after an incredibley small sample size I am a TA, hopefully i can get up to UA...

I kind of feel that the UNKNOWN icons could be perhaps used for something else because although knowing if someone is loose, tight or slightly loose by looking at the icon is perfectly ok, maybe one or two icons can be used for isolating bluffers and slowplayers for example... I know weak-tight players are also slowplayers a lot of the time, but still, as mentioned somewhere weak tight also have 2 categories within themselves... thoughts?
