Thinking NL10 and below here. I tend to play closer to cardrunners LAG than nittish at these stakes, almost always raising or caling a raise when I enter a pot, never just limping. I almost always CB when I've raised preflop, and always do so on ATC, any flop if I only got one caller.

I've noticed a few people have begun to mini-raise my CB's. Some so much so that I've noted them. Once I got pissed and once I misclicked and learned something:

Hand 1

This guy habitually mini-raised me on the flop. It didn't matter if I opened preflop or called someone else's raise. If I opened the flop betting, he mini-raised 100% of the time.

I have AJs OTB and raise after one limper. Villain in BB is the only caller. Effective stacks are ~150BB.

Flop comes raggish with 2 of my suit. Villain checks and mini-raises my 3/4 pot bet. Normally I pop it up a lot here, but I'm curious and insta-mini-raise him back. He mucks almost before I hit the raise button. Interesting.


Hand 2

Blind battle with 200BB effective stacks. Folds to me in SB with TT, I raise my usual 4xBB. BB calls. I have a pretty liberal raising range in this situation, but it's a whole lot tighter than ATC. I won't do this with low SC's. It's just not worth the aggravation and variance of a blind battle to try. But this particular BB has felt my raises and CB's quite frequently because the table has tightened up a lot and I've had a decent run of cards in the SB recently. Anyway...

Flop is 2 suited, everything lower than a 10, no reasonable straight draws. I bet my usual 3/4 pot. BB thinks and calls (tell - he probably doesn't have a 4 flush right now).

Turn brings the 3rd of the suit and the board is still lower than my tens. (I have the T of that suit, but meh.) I bet 3/4 pot again. BB insta-insta-mini-raises. I "twitch" and hit the raise button (mislick) putting in a mini-raise and he turbo-mucks.



Clearly a mini-raise is not always a monster any more / at these stakes. What are the rest of you micro players seeing WRT to mini-raises? Is the pattern of mini-raising too frequently worthy of noting and exploiting?

Agreed. I think a lot of players minraise for info too, cause they dont want to 3 or 4x raise to get pushed. Passive play you should take advantage of IMO.

Usually if Im playing a rock and I dont want to fold Ill just smooth call / check and they almost always fire another quick bet.
