To preface, I'm very new to 6-max (just the 3rd day playing), so any input or suggestions will be much appreciated. I was only one tabling but had no read on the villian as this occured within a few hands of him sitting down. I don't believe he even played for a pot before this hand.

A few questions: Was my PFR too small (it was about average for the table, but the new guy couldn't really know that yet)? Was my reraise on the flop too small and perhaps show weakness that he could've used to his advantage? I guess, finally, if I decide to stay in the pot, what's the best move: Reraise, push, call?

I think this is probably a fold. You only have one pair, and he's shown a bit of interest. I'd guess he either has a set or top two. Lay it down.

I assume you meant my raise on the flop (I mistaken said "reraise" in my original post) was too small. At the time I was actually thinking that I didn't want to scare him away with a larger raise if he was betting with KJ/QJ/AT etc...(many of the hands that would've called my PFR), but afterward I realized it looked a little like a weak steal attempt. After his reraise I didn't have much maneuvering ability without risking a lot of money with TPTK, so I layed it down. I'm still not entirely convinced I was beat since he could've interpreted my small raise as a steal attempt, but the blame falls on me for that one. I think I would've found it an easier laydown if I'd taken your advice and raised even to $3 on the flop; at least then I'd be fairly confident he knew I had a big hand and his reraise told me that he didn't care.

Wow, you are in the same boat as me, just starting playing 6max NL25 on stars.

From what I have seen today I would fold this ASAP unless I had a read on the guy telling me he was a total donk with TP 2nd kicker.

I think you can raise to $1.25 preflop to try and buy position and / or steal the blinds. I would re-raise the pot on the flop, to $2.75, maybe $3.

AJs is good 5 handed, but at the end of the day we only have 1 pair and this guy likes his hand enough to weak-lead then re-re-raise. JT is possible.

From what I have experienced you don't want to play many big pots with 1 pair but the players are so weak that you can steal small pot after small pot as suggested here :
