Dealt in BB, in late MP villian raises to $1.5, I call. Flop comes . Good flop for me, no flush draws, villian is aggresive so i check and let him bet for me. He bets $2, seems weak and I feel i have the best hand. I call with the intention of check raising the turn. Pot $7, turn brings , i check villian bets $4, I raise to $12. Opponent calls rather quickly. Pot $31, river brings completing a possible back door flush. I think about a blocking bet, but check hoping for a cheap showdown. My opponent goes all in for my remaining $40. Anyone make this call? Suggestions on how to play this hand better?

When you check, you have to expect that big bet. I wouldve bet the river.

I think whether to call or not is too opponent specific for me to answer. Remember this though. His is playing his cards based on what he thinks you have and I can guarantee you that he doesnt think you have AK. I personally think he has AK also.

You probably should have raised the flop. If you are in position sometimes you can slowplay TP against someone aggressive like this, but out of position I think it is better to follow through with the check-raise on the flop rather than the turn. I don't know about making the call either, seems tough.

Your cold call preflop and check call on the flop scream weakness to your opponent. Since your not showing any aggression and there are 2 big cards on the deck he probably thinks your on a gutshot draw and is hoping youll pay to make it. I would have checkraised him on the flop and bet into him on the turn. You could have just about anything coming out of the BB and he would be hardpressed to put you on a hand which would slow him down a little and might have gotten you a cheap showdown. MY2C...
