Here is a hand from yesterday's session.

I am at a Party Poker $50 NL table with $55. The villian in this hand has been very loose. I saw him lose a pot after calling a $3 raise with J9o. He had also been making huge all in bets preflop for around $40 I saw him raise to $3.50 UTG with A7o and call an all in re-raise to $25. The villain has about $65

Anyway

Preflop:
I limp UTG with [Jh] [Jc] . MP raises to $2.5 and the villain calls on the button. The big blind calls, I call and another EP player calls and the pot is at about $12 preflop

Flop: [4s] [4d] [8d]
The BB checks and I lead out for $9. Everyone folds tot he villain and he calls.

The turn is a [9s] and the pot is $32. I think I need to lead out for a sizeable bet here, but if I bet the pot I'm pot committed. I don't think he will fold for a half pot bet if he is on a draw. What is your play? What do you do if he raises all in?

I'm going in for 25-30, taking my lumps if he has me beat. Even if he has a flush draw and an overcard I'm not afraid to price him in for 20-25, and potentially get drawn out (if he'd call that but fold for an all in), since he'll be getting the worst of it. I'm not folding the hand regardless of what he does.

If you were both deeper I could consider an alternative play, but with only 1 buyin in front of you it's not the end of the world.

I think you have to commit yourself to this pot.... You can't just check-fold here, especially if he is a LAG player. You can't bet small and then fold because he could be raising you simply because you are betting small. And you can't bet large and fold because you're pot committed.

The key then becomes, assuming you're going to go all in regardless of his actions, what size bet do you make that optimizes your chances of getting his chips in there if he's behind. I think a bet of $20 might do it, because he might think if he raises you will fold. If he's the type to always bet out if checked to, even check-raising isn't that bad of a play.

The hands he could have are
1) flush draw
2 )top pair
3) 3 of a kind

If it was a conservative player this would be a fold but against a LAG you should push on the turn. I would bet about $25 on the turn and call if he moves you in. This is a player-dependent situation and if you read is right you will be way ahead on the turn and must charge him for the river.

good flops
