Not that I know much about PC's I was gonna suggest the same idea about scanning it. I had a problem similar to that once Yahoo's anti-spy picked up some kind of virus thing that none of my others found. I usually have that, spybot search and destroy, spware blaster, ad aware SE, and NVG anti spyware on my PC's. Along with an anti virus program as well.... They're all downloadable and free, just gotta check for updates every so often and start the scans yourself... The free versions don't allow you to set a schedule for them to do it automatically.

Delete Firefox's temporary files(cache) and restart the browser.
Next time it happens, check the task manager to see if there are 2 processes for firefox.exe
If so, kill them both, and when you restart firefox, do not let it restore previous session.
If that did not help try uninstalling and reinstalling the display drivers.
Open control panel, double-click System (may need to switch to classic view to see it)
Go to Device Manager and click the + next to Display adapters
Right click the device listed and choose uninstall.
Restart your computer and letting windows install the drivers.
Which Antivirus suite came with your computer?
Can you see if using a wired mouse has the same problem?

I've gone 3 work days without an issue, after following LD's instructions. I'm really hoping that did the trick and this isn't a cruel way for Bill Gates to raise my hopes, only to shatter them at a crucial time.
